Thank you Kelly for helping my family and I change our poor health habits. We now eat and crave “healthy” foods and look forward to grocery shopping and meal preparation. I hope that my kids will continue to incorporate all of the healthy habits they have learned from you for the rest of their lives. You have changed our lives forever.
The Hill Family
Project Brief//
3 month family nutrition counseling.
Challenge: Family of four was challenged by poor eating habits that included: either no breakfast or an energy bar for breakfast, pb&j’s or processed turkey and cheese on white bread sandwiches for lunch and frozen or processed foods or white pasta for dinner. They wanted to learn how to eat well even though they did not have a lot of time to prepare meals and have no interest in spending a lot of time in the kitchen.
Solution: Over a 3 month period with sessions once per week we created a menu plan that allowed the family to improve their nutrition and enjoy the foods they were eating while keeping it quick and simple. First we cleaned out their kitchen and got rid of all the processed, not-so-nutritious foods, while educating them on why these foods were not optimal. Next, we did a grocery store tour to show them how to read labels, healthy foods they can substitute for the unhealthy foods and to introduce them to many new foods that we gradually incorporated into their program. Next, we developed a weekly grocery list, menu plan and food preparation schedule. Over the 3 months we created new daily rituals surrounding food that allowed the whole family to eat well everyday.
